Module 5 – Cross-sectional resistance, includes methods for determination of the load-carrying capacity of beams without influence of global instability such as buckling and lateral torsional buckling. The content covers rolled beams and small welded beams with influence from axial force, bending moment, shear force or concentrated local forces and interaction between these. For large welded beams complementing information might be needed. Torsion is only treated for box girders.
